What is the role of Father Cornelius and why is it significant?

Father Cornelius is a member of a line of priests that have been charged with keeping the secret of the extraterrestrial species that has come to earth and planted the fifth element there for safe keeping. Once the fifth element is taken along with the four other stones it is the role of the priest to keep record of the life-form so that earth will know of the pact that they have with these beings in order to protect all lifeforms on earth.

What is the significance of the four stones?

The four stones represent water, wind, fire and soil. When combined together and the fifth element placed in between them they create great power. The significance of the four stones representing nature is meaningful because in a time of advanced technology it is not the advancement of men that saves them, but what has always existed that protects and saves them.

What is the fifth element?

The fifth element is a powerful being that is able to combine the powers of the four stones in order to create a power so strong that it can destroy the evil that threatens to destroy the universe. The fifth element is Leeloo and she represents the power of love which can destroy all evil.
