The Darkest Road Irony

The Darkest Road Irony

The irony of Paraiko’s pacifism

Paraiko is a peace-loving and non-violent society that has observed these attributes for centuries. Paraiko people do not want to engage in war and believe that the blood cursed that protects them will never leave. Ironically, when Ruana invokes the ritual of lamentation, which is unexpected, the Paraiko people become violent, and the blood cursed that has protected them for centuries leaves them forever. Therefore, it is ironic that the people who have been non-violent their entire lives have become aggressive in fighting against Maugrim.

The paradox of Darien

When Kim visits the cottage of Ysanne, she knows that Darien has transformed and become a good man. In the event Darien is evil, Darien is ready to forgive him and allow him to change into a good person. Ironically, when the test confirms Darien is evil, he runs away. However, Kim has no bad intentions because she is here to help Darien to transform into a good man. Consequently, Darien does the contrary when he runs away because Kim has already expressed her interest in not punishing him.

The unexpected victory

Maugrim's army is the deadliest, and Kim, with her army, are scared of Maugrim. Despite knowing that Maugrim's army cannot be defeated, Kim and Matt's army launches a deadly attack against Maugrim, but they are sure they will not come out alive. Among the deadliest commanders of Maugrin are the giant, Urgach, and the Cristal Dragon. Diarmuid, one of Kim and Matt's soldiers, faces Urgach and kills him, but he also dies. Similarly, Tabor, Kim's colleague in the army, kills the Cristal Dragon. Kim's army later realizes that it has emerged victorious, and this comes as a surprise because they have fought Maugrim's army for centuries without success.
