The main protagonist of the story is a woman called Ramses. She finds out about the movement in Florida called The Myth, a movement that is making an effort against climate change. She gets in contact with the man in charge, a gator-obsessed man called Jefferson, and they agree to meet in Miami. Riding into the swamps with Jefferson, Ramses suddenly begins to wonder if she made a grave mistake by putting herself in a vulnerable position with this unknown man and starts thinking about bailing. Her doubts are lifted when they finally arrive in front of a strange tall structure covered in moss and ivy. This strange structure and everything surrounding it is what they call the Myth.
Ramses meets with the aqua tech called Nina who explains to her what they are all about. They are using the rise of the sea level to their advantage, to create new wetlands with the use of genetic modification and other various lab work. These new wetlands can then filter the saltwater and create a rich ecosystem that filters the air as well. The Myth is the first prototype of this new wetland. They have the idea, but they need investments for expansion, where Ramses comes into play.
Soon after Ramses starts to work on finding people who will be on their side, the state discovers about the movement. They get a visit from a man called Foote who works for the state and who is there to investigate their work. He asks them about the money and indirectly threatens them to not go with the truth about the rising sea levels public because the state doesn’t want to be liable to address the issue.
In search of investments, they get a billionaire sponsor called Chakrabarti, who got rich by advertising herbs to teenagers. It is clear to them that Chakrabarti wants to take over the Myth and make it a sensational thing constantly broadcasted to the world. They find another solution in a Cuban man called Mickey. He advertises them in the so-called Renegade Olympics and the money comes their way. This results in Foote and state going against them and the Myth being under siege. They decide that the best defense is the continuous broadcast with Mickey’s help.
In the middle of this siege, the news come out about a large piece of Antarctic ice being sheared off, making it a global threat. Along with the rise of the sea, a huge storm came and the Myth becomes the main refuge for the people of Miami, which was completely destroyed. The idea behind the Myth and the new Wetlands gets global attention. The Myth turned into a New Wetland where humans are an essential part of the ecosystem.
