Hal
Hal plays the protagonist of Shakespeare's final play. He is an inmate at Luther Luckett and a veteran of the Shakespeare behind bars program.
Sammie
Sammie plays Trinculo in the production of The Tempest. He is a man who is passionate about the Shakespeare Behind Bars program, as he has been in it for the longest of many of the group's members. He runs the computer programming in the prison and hopes to be paroled the next year.
Big G
Big G is a man who chose to leave behind finding ways to make money in prison. He traded it in for Shakespeare through the program. He plays Caliban in the play, taking on the role of an angry monster of sorts before finding freedom. Big G is adamant about mentoring other inmates through the Shakespeare Behind Bars program.
Red
Red plays Miranda in Shakespeare's play. He is very much the interpersonal "glue" in the group, as he seeks to keep the calm between the men in rehearsals. He's open to playing Miranda and works hard to find ways to portray her truthfully in his performance.
