Quinton is the protagonist of the story, and he is depicted as an unhappy man. Life has not been fair for him, which makes him angry, and he concludes that the world is unfair to him. Quinton has lost the most important people that matter in his life, and he is now hopeless.
Quinton decides to start afresh and decides to reorganize his life. However, after moving to the new urban area, Quinton is disappointed and resolves into heavy drinking. Quinton becomes a tedious drunkard who does not care for his life anymore. Quinton meets King, a homeless guy, and they become friends. Quinton also spends most of his time renting movies from a resident video shop.
Quinton wants to forget everything about his past. As he moves around, he finds himself in a gym where individuals exercise to become Thai martial fighters. Quinton realizes that the training is intense, which signifies the high demands that one must meet before becoming a Muay Thai fighter. As he watches the trainees, Quinton starts to reflect on his life. He diverts his anger and concentrates on what the trainees are doing.
After watching the gym training for some time, it dawns on Quinton's mind that this life is full of fights that one has to fight intelligently. Battles do not only take place in the rings but also people's lives. Quinton learns from the mantra that one has to endure a good fight in life. Quinton is fighting with his past, but he now has a renewed hope that things will be better.
