Quinton
Quinton is the main character in the book. He finds consolation in alcohol and movies after losing the people that are so important to him. He is not interested in social interactions because he feels lost.
Akmed
The owner of the liquor store where Quinton drinks often. Quinton explains that this friendship with Akmed as symbiotic. This means that they have a mutual relationship that was beneficial to each one of them.
Quinton’s Sister
Quinton’s sister resides in New York. Quinton’s sister talks to Quinton often on the phone. She comforts Quinton over the phone.
Quinton’s grandfather
Quinton’s grandfather grew up during the Jim Crow era in Georgia. Quinton had a special connection with him. According to Quinton, his grandfather the Christmas and Thanksgiving celebrations enjoyable. His grandfather told him stories, and they drank together. Quinton's grandfather succumbed to a heart attack.
