""You have six months left," said the army doctor when I was called up. Years later I looked him up: I wanted him to see I was alive, but he was dead. It always went that way. They'd predict my demise and I'd survive. They'd die instead."
Andreotti is heard in a voice-over as he is using acupuncture in the opening scene of the film. His words pierce as he tells the whole story in this statement: he was expected to eventually die or be ousted, but he survived and those who predicted his end were the ones who met their ultimate fate.
"We learn from the Gospel that when they asked Jesus what the truth was, he did not reply."
Andreotti's statement is seen in quotations on-screen at the beginning of the film. With this statement we see that the former Prime Minister and statesman used the Gospels in order to justify his position and thus tell no truth about what he had done during his long time in power in Italian Government.
"True power does not need arrogance, a long beard and a barking voice. True power strangles you with silk ribbons, charm and intelligence."
This quote is show in text on-screen at the beginning of the film. It is by Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci who covered many of the years and scandals of Andreotti's time in office in Italy.
