Il Divo Irony

Il Divo Irony

Doctor

The Army Doctor expected Andreotti to be dead six months after he saw him. Ironically, Giulio lived and came back to tell the doctor, who himself had died.

Church

Andreotti goes into a church in order to confess his sins in the early morning hours. We see a statue with a cross before ironically watching one of Andreotti's men armed with an automatic weapon enter the sanctuary.

The Same

The Priest tells Giulio that it is said that De Gesperi and Andreotti both go to mass, and it appears they both do it the same. Ironically, the Priest says that De Gesperi talks to God while Andreotti talks to the Priest. Andreotti responds by telling him that, "Priests vote. God doesn't."

Christian Democrats

We watch as Andreotti's faction of the Christian Democrats enter his residence in order to meet with him. Ironically, though they are the inner circle of Andreotti's party the camera work makes them appear more as thugs rather than politicians upon their entrance.

Party

We watch as a party is going into the night, with vibrant drums and dancing in one room. Ironically, in the adjacent room Andreotti sits on a couch as if in mourning with a procession of people wait to kiss the ring in honor of his entering his new term as Prime Minister.
