Guru Imagery

Train in the Night

Sujata waits at a train stop in the middle of the night for a man that doesn't come. The imagery shows that she is willing to risk everything in order to find a better life, and the image of the train departing in the night represents her willingness to leave behind anything, including her family to be free.

Rain

We see the IAS officer arrive at Guru's home to plead him to take back the fabric left at his home. The Officer decides to allow him and the men to begin trading again. The imagery shows that the Officer is going to face a downpour from Guru if he doesn't change his decision. And, the fact that Guru is situated high above the Officer on the street shows how has the power.

Guru

We see Guru seemingly standing still as the traders all move like flashes around him. The imagery shows that Guru is able to slow the world around him down in a way that allows him to think like no one else, and achieve like no one else.

Division

Sujata learns from her brother that Guru married her for the dowry from their father. We see a train come through the street with Sujata on one side and Guru on the other. The imagery shows us that there is an instant division between them because of his secret.
