Guru
Gurukant is a young man from a small village in India who dreams of becoming a great businessman. He marries Sujata in order to receive a dowry from her father to start his business, but falls deeply in love with her. He grows his company to become the largest textile factory in India.
Sujata
Sujata is a young woman who was seeking to run away with a man on a night train when she meets Guru. Later, fate has it that she will marry Guru and become his partner in his business. They have twin girls together and Sujata fights through the court battles with Guru to the end.
Manik Dasgupta
Manik is the owner of the newspaper, Swatantra. He is a man that takes Guru under his wing as a son and helps Guru to get into business. He also is the man who allows Guru to be attacked as he knows that Guru is operating his business illegally. He lose his daughter to multiple sclerosis.
Shyam
Shyam is a reporter for Manik's Swatantra newspaper. He marries Meenu, Manik's daughter and also is the man responsible for bringing the truth about Shakti to the public through his reporting.
