"Feminist Manifesto" and Other Texts Character List

The narrator

The narrator of the essay is Mina Loy, a famous representative of the feminist movement in its first stages. Her personality is vividly traced in the essay and her ideas of feministic movements are clearly stated.

A woman

The essay is devoted to the place of a woman in a society where many prejudices have been formed and prosper, even now when women become more and more independent and even reach success not less than men. A woman to fully understand her purpose should look for the answers only within herself, as she is the only person to give these answers. To become dependent upon a man who provides this dependence for a woman’s virginity is the greatest of illusions. A woman is given by nature all the functions to be self-accomplished, and it is only mental borders that suppress intellectual growth.

A man

A man is not given as much attention as a woman in this text. The most significant thing about a man stated by the narrator is that his role is mostly restricted to his functions accomplished for and within a community.
