    Students will explore the historical background behind the text.

    Structure:

    For this exercise, the teacher should split the class into groups, with each creating a slideshow presentation about one of the following historical topics:

    1. Legends and Heroes of the Roman Republic (i.e. Romulus and Remus, Coriolanus, etc.)

    2. The Conflict of the Orders (i.e. economic inequality and social tensions between plebeians and patricians)

    3. The Wars of the Roman Republic (i.e. wars against Italian tribes like the Volscians)
