Circe Summary

Circe Summary

When Circe is born, the Gods around her think she will be a good-looking and powerful child. It would, in fact, not make sense if she wasn't. But after she is born, it becomes apparent very quickly that she is totally unlike what the Gods thought she would be. She looks strange, has a hawkish nose, has yellow eyes, and has a very odd voice. Her father is, in turn, totally devastated.

Naturally, because her father is disappointed by how she looks, Circe is banished to the underground halls of her father's palace, kept out of sight from the people who visit. Still, many see her and consistently make fun of her.

Circe's situation affords her the opportunity to read and learn about anything and everything - from Titan, to Prometheus, to Zeus, to even humanity. Very quickly, she learns that she is unlike other Gods: she has red blood likes humans, not gold blood like the Gods. Shortly thereafter, Circe learns that she is in fact a witch, but not a God.

That leaves Circe with a choice: will she stay with the Gods, or will she go to live with the mortals who she has grown to love.
