How does Deza become important again in the story?
At the end of the story, Bud realizes that Deza was right—that with or without the picture of his mother, he carries his mother in his heart. While the reader doesn't see Deza again after Bud's relatively brief interaction with her in Hooverville, her character still plays a significant role in Bud's own self-realizations and discovery.
