  1. 1

How does the world change as Furo becomes a white man?

As Furo becomes a white man, life becomes easier, and the world as he knows it becomes a much more pleasant place to be. A lot of people are much more positive towards Furo and he is permitted to express himself as he wishes without being judged. He is able to get his life in order, as there are a lot of people cheering him on and believing in him, therefore also investing in him.

What effect does the fact that Igoni is a woman have?

As Igoni becomes a woman, he understands how men treat them better. He also chooses to change his name to Morpheus, which reflects on what he has gone through. However, he doesn't like the way things are working out with Furo. Knowing both how it is being a man and a woman, he seeks to help both become better instead of forgetting one the way Furo has.

  3. 3

What does Furo choose to be, and how does that reflect on society?

Furo tries changing his identity to fit a white male as much as he can, from his ski, clothes and name to his accent and the people he hangs around. This shows that the response he received as a white male was so much better than his experience as a black male, that he didn't wish to be associated with the color. The society is built up on racism and prejudices that people might not even be aware they have, but was painfully clear in Blackass.
