Roxane Gay is a writer, professor and social commentator. Born in Nebraska in 1974, Gay pursued a passion for literary craft and would go on to earn multiple graduate degrees. Gay's writing career spans multiple mediums: she is a successful novelist, an acclaimed essayist, writer for Marvel comics, magazine editor, Twitter commentator, columnist and public intellectual. Gay has established herself as a significant 21st century voice on issues of feminism and anti-black racism. She has been the recipient of multiple awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship and two Lambda Literary Awards.
