A Feast For Crows Irony

A Feast For Crows Irony

Cersei’s Pitfalls

Cersei plans to implicate Margery Tyrell in a false accusation of adultery and have her punished by the Faith. She further sends Jaime outside King’s Landing out of spite for him for not approving her schemes, she distances her uncle who could have been a sensible Hand and places people in court who just placate instead of being loyal to her. In the end, the court had no one to take care of the Realm, Aurane Waters had fled with the fleet of ships built at Cersei’s orders increasing the royal debt to the Iron Bank and she herself was found guilty if adultery and locked in the dungeons of the Baelor’s Sept.

I dreamed that I was old.

The exclamation by Maester Aemon is ironic in the sense that he is old and frail, but in his dreams he is young again. He is in his final days and is often struck by delirium and begins to imagine himself as his old self. He begins to dream that he is young and his brother Aegon is alive and still a baby. To his dream self, his real life is the dream in which he has grown old.

Doran’s weakness

Doran Martell is considered coward and helpless by most people due to his disability and his passive attitude towards Lannisters which were hated by the people of Dorne, including Ellaria sand and the Sand Snakes, for the murder of Elia and Oberyn. However, in the end it is revealed that Doran had been planning to overthrow the Lannisters from power from years, by planning marital alliances with the Targaryens.

Euron’s Selection

Euron is hated by a lot of people in Pyke, including Aeron and Victarion, his brothers who believe him to be corrupted and cruel. However, by the end of Kingsmoot Euron has convinced most of the people to vote for him as their King.

Brienne’s Sentence

Brienne of Tarth is put forth by Jamie Lannister to look for Sansa and Arya as per his promise to their mother Catelyn Stark. However, as she travels around Westeros looking for them she is captured by the Brotherhood without Banners and is sentenced by Lady Stoneheart, who is Catelyn Stark, resurrected and devoid of empathy. Brienne is captured because of the sword Jamie gave to her, which was meant to protect Stark sisters but is mistaken as proof of Brienne’s alliance with the Lannisters.
