Ceresi Lannister
The queen regent and the real power behind her son Tommen's throne. Her reign is full of rampant cronyism and is unstable due to the fact that she has staffed the councils with incompetent loyalists. She is vain, prideful, and ambitious, desiring power above all else. She is also in an incestuous relationship with her twin brother Jaime Lannister.
Jaime Lannister
Ceresi Lannister's twin brother, and the true father of King Tommen Baratheon, whom he sired in an illegitimate and incestuous relationship with his twin Ceresi. He was an excellent swordsman until his dominant hand was cut off. Jaime also tends to make ethically dubious decisions to protect those he cares about.
Jon Snow
The bastard son of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell, Jon joined the Night's Watch, a group of men who guard the Wall. He is the new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch as well, replacing the former Lord Commander, Jeor Mormont, who was killed.
Brienne of Tarth
Brienne is an excellent swordsman. She is described as notably unattractive in the novels but is very honorable and always strives to keep her oaths. Currently, she is in the employ of Lady Catelyn Stark, and is hunting for Catelyn's daughters, Sansa and Arya, to protect them.
Sansa Stark
Sansa Stark is the daughter of Cately and Eddard Stark. Formerly engaged to Prince Joffrey Baratheon, she was forced to flee after his death when she became a suspect in his murder. Sansa used to be spoiled and materialistic but has changed due to the horrors Joffrey subjected her to in King's Landing. Currently, she is hiding in the Vale with Petyr Baelish and is posing as his bastard daughter Alayne Stone.
Arya Stark
Sansa's younger sister who is very much a tomboy. Arya has become excellent with a sword, and she is determined, tough, and resilient. However, Arya sometimes has too much pluck, which can cause her to get in trouble.
Petyr Baelish
A lord of Westeros who is very opportunistic, treacherous, and power hungry. He was in love with Sansa's mother Catelyn, and is protecting Sansa because his love for Catelyn has transferred to her due to the strong resemblance between the two.
Tommen Baratheon
The current King of Westeros, Tommen believes that his father is Robert Baratheon, making him the rightful heir to the throne. However, Tommen is really the illegitimate son of Jaime Lannister, his mother's twin. Tommen is sweet, but is also weak-willed and easily manipulated.
Margaery Tyrell
Tommen's betrothed and the future Queen of Westeros. She is known for her beauty and her charity to the poor, Cersei and her are engaged in a struggle for power.
Samwell Tarly
A sworn brother of the Night's Watch and a good friend of Jon Snow.
