Wayside School is Falling Down Background

Wayside School is Falling Down Background

Written by esteemed children's author Louis Sachar, Wayside School is Falling Down is the second book in the critically acclaimed, bestselling series Wayside School series. Like its predecessor, Wayside School is Falling Down is a short story cycle novel and is made up of thirty separate short stories that are made to be read together as a coherent bunch.

Fundamentally, the novel tells three stories: the story of a new student called Benjamin Nushmutt, the story of a teacher called Miss Zarves, and the story of a teacher called Mrs. Jewls. The title of the novel is inspired by one of the character's favorite song, called "London Bridge is Falling Down."

Like its predecessor, Wayside School is Falling Down received incredibly positive reviews and sold quite a few copies. In fact, the series has been read by over 15 million people. In its review for the novel, Kirkus Reviews wrote that "[The novel is] a sure-to-please sequel to Sideways Stories from Wayside School."
