Professor O'Blivian is being interviewed on a talk show. This statement is a way of saying that he believes in television becoming a part of humanity. Thus, his renaming himself is him stating that he has become part of this evolution.
"Certainly I care. I care enough in fact to give my viewers a harmless outlet for their fantasies and their frustrations, and as far as I'm concerned that's a socially positive act."
Max says this while on the talk show. This is his response to the host saying that he is contributing to a culture of violence and and inappropriate sexual acts. He is a believer in what he is doing, which makes him dangerous to the entire culture he serves to provide the content to.
"Listen, I'd really like to take you out to dinner tonight."
Max after hearing Nikki's opposing response to his show asks her why she wears a red dress if she is in opposition to an overstimulated world. She responds that she is overstimulated herself and Max then asks her out with this statement on live TV. We see the infection within both of their minds to seek pleasure over connection, feelings over depth and truth.
