    Falling Faintly

    Individual Writing

    Objective:

    Students will read a paragraph from Joyce's earlier work and compare its thematic relevance to Ulysses.

    Structure:

    One of Joyce's most famous passages is the final paragraph of his short story, "The Dead," which is found in the collection Dubliners. It is arguably the most beautiful paragraph written in the English language, and additionally concerns itself with death and remembrance, two themes that have arisen in today's reading, particularly in Chapter Six. The paragraph is as follows:
