    How does Part Four open? What point is Ali making about the suffering of the people?

    Part Four opens with a description of nature and the heat. The summer of 1918 is more terrible than the previous summers and nature herself is described as being angry with the people of the country. Additionally, World War One is ongoing and Indians are dying by the thousands fighting overseas. On top of all this, an influenza epidemic has broken out across the country.
