    Mir Nihal, like other aristocratic men of Old Delhi, broods and flies pigeons as a hobby. Ali compares Mir Niahl's passion for his pigeons to that of a child and his toys. When ten of his pigeons die from the heat, Mir Nihal is reminded of his old age.
