Objective:

Discuss how the play might have been different if Mrs. Wright had been murdered instead of her husband.

Structure:

Although neither Mr. nor Mrs. Wright ever appear in person, the reader comes to know a great deal about the different amounts of power that each wields. As a class, discuss how Mr. Wright is treated as compared to Mrs. Wright. You may wish to mention to your class that while Mr. Wright is the victim and Mrs. Wright is the accused murderer, the male investigators mock and belittle her.
