Elizabeth Warren presents a book narrating about the dwindling of fortunes for America’s middle class. For many decades, the U.S workers have not enjoyed their payments. Big companies have continued making profits at the expense of the working class. The situation was made worse by the election of Donald Trump. Warren discusses how she broke the ranks and became the first member of her family to earn a college degree. First, she argues that she was brought up in a poor background and at some point, she dropped out of school to get married. The poverty she experienced during childhood inspired her to raise awareness to the public regarding the few rich people and the majority of struggling middle class.
The rich people are only interested in making huge profits at the expense of the working class. From the 1970s, the GDP has increased incessantly. However, the salary of the working class has remained almost the same. This has left many average Americans struggling to pay their bills. Warren also condemns billionaire lobbyists for spending more money to fight the Dodd-Frank Act. The billionaire’s actions show that they are not ready to be held accountable. Besides, fighting against the Dodd-Frank Act exposes the weakness of the rich in improving transparency.
Warren also focuses on the 2016 election and voting of Donald Trump. In her argument, she blames people for voting a showman. Indeed, Warren argues that people will suffer at the hands of Trump because his policies will deteriorate the economy. Warren lobbies the government to subsidize the low minimum wage to make the lives of Americans easy. Companies need to raise the minimum wage to improve the lives of their workers.
