The Witching Hour Irony

The Witching Hour Irony

Mother daughter relationship

One troubling issue in the novel is that Dr. Rowan, a well-educated woman, knows nothing about her mother. The reader finds it satirical that Dr. Rowan's relationship with her mother was absent for decades. When Dr. Rowan returns home to learn more about her late mother, she is shocked to discover the dark history that she belonged to Mayfair witches.

Dr. Rowan’s decision to Michael

The encounter between Dr. Rowan and Michael was romantic and captivating. After saving Michael from drowning using her physic powers, Dr. Rowan falls in love with him. However, with the help of Aaron, Dr, Rowan discovered that Michael is her cousin. Ironically, Michael and Dr. Rowan continue to marry each despite knowing they are biologically related. Consequently, they are interfering with the family's superiority and immunity, but they disregard that when they get married.

The paradox of expectations

When Dr. Rowan Mayfair fully controls her family, she expects everything to go according to her plans. Firstly, Dr. Rowan wanted to clean her family's dark history and make it acceptable before the eyes of the public. Paradoxically, Dr. Rowan did not know that the worst was yet to happen. Dr. Rowan is introduced to Lasher, the evil spirit that has disturbed her family for centuries. Lasher wants to destroy the Mayfair family because it competes with his evil powers. Lasher makes Dr. Rowan's life a nightmare, and she runs away to London to ensure Michael's safety.
