The novel The Whisper was written by the British author named Emma Clayton and published in 2012. Emma Clayton is well-known author that wrote numerous children’s books, science fiction books that have as their main characters young men and women keen on finding the truth about the world they live in.

The Whisper is a dystopian novel, the sequel to another novel written by Emma Clayton entitled The Roar. In the first novel, the time when the action takes place is defined and the reader finds that the main characters live in a post-apocalyptic world affected by a plague that infected the domestic animals. To protect themselves from those animals, the remaining humans build a wall around their city and no one was allowed to leave. The people inside the city were told that the outside world was dangerous for them and thus they should never try to leave the safe space created for them.

The main characters in both novels are two girls, Mika and Ellie who found that the government lied to them about what lied outside the walls of the city. They also find that a rich elite planned a war against the unsuspecting poor people inside the city so they decided that it was up to them to save their families. Both novels were well received by the public and the author is regarded as a prolific writer because of her works of fiction.
