How does Kimberley Ford discover her destiny?

Kimberly Ford and four other Toronto University students are transported to a foreign land called Fionavar by Loren to enjoy the celebration of the 50th year of the reign of King Ailell. When they arrive in Fionavar, Kimberly Ford heads to the consecrated lake where she converts into Ysanne’s protégée, Brenin’s Seer. She is introduced to her destiny of being a Seer at this point.

Why is Loren Silvercloak fetching the five university students from Toronto to Fionavar?

The kingdom of Fionavar is in despair and on the verge of collapsing. To save the kingdom, five university students must be brought to fight the evil that has lived under the mountains for centuries. The evil has negatively affected the kingdom's weather and soil, threatening its future. The students must use their knowledge to help Loren formulate possible remedies to save the kingdom. Loren also promises these students that their destinies will be fulfilled in the Fionavar Kingdom.

What is the primary predicament faced by the five university students when they arrive in Fionavar?

When traveling to Fionavar, the five students, Dave, Kimberly, Jenifer, Kelvin, and Paul, are hopeful that they will know their destinies. However, Loren does not tell them that they will be in shock before accomplishing their mission. While in Fionavar, these students come face to face with the dark forces from the North. The gods and goddesses are at war, struggling to control the kingdom from all angles. However, these students are forced to persevere because their survival depends on their mission accomplishment.
