The Bacteriologist
The Bacteriologist is the protagonist of the story. One morning he accepts a stranger in his laboratory and gives him a little tour of the premises. He at once guesses that the visitor is an anarchist, because he is very interested in the living bacterium of cholera.
The visitor
The visitor is an unnamed man who came to the laboratory with the goal to steal a germ of cholera, or any other deathly bacteria, and poison all the city. He managed to steal a tube, and in a cab the tube broke and all its contents poured out on the man.
Minnie
Minnie is the bacteriologist’s wife; she loves her husband very much. When the bacteriologist is running after the visitor hatless, she runs after him holding a hat, since she considers that it is her duty to help and take care after her husband.
