The Seven Messengers

The Seven Messengers Analysis

The Seven Messengers is a story of a Prince who decides to explore his father’s kingdom at about the age of 30. The Prince thought that he would reach the kingdom confines in a few days, but he keeps meeting new people who speak his language. In his journey, he chose seven knights to serve him as messengers. Many years pass without the Prince returning to the city where he was born. However, he sends his messengers to get him the information about the goings-on of the city. After several years of journey, he is informed that his father died and the crown passed to his brother.

Domenico, one of the messengers, informs him that people consider him dead. Prince uses imagination to reflect on his environment. In his journey, he notices a landscape before him. However, he believes that the landscape is somehow different. As he moves forward, he starts suspecting that the frontier may not even be existing. The existence of the frontier is just false hope. The Prince insists that he wanted to see walls of separation, dividing valleys, or mountains in the border.

When he fails to see bordering valleys and mountains, the Prince believes that he may cross the border without knowing. At the start of his journey, he was happy. However, worries about exploring unknown lands make him get scared. The Prince seems to be overwhelmed by objects around him. Ultimately, he starts realizing that he is being dragged into a meaningless labyrinth world. The story shows how people try in vain to comprehend things beyond their understanding.
