    Minor, in this case, reflects both the idea of being something relatively trivial and the idea of a minor key as the idea appears in music. A minor key is generally perceived as sad-sounding.

    What are some reasons people clap after they hear singing? Does the speaker clap for similar reasons?

    Generally, applause after a singing performance indicates approval, an audience thanking a performer. In this case, the speaker of this poem is clapping as a way of ending the bird's "performance," despite the fact that the bird is not performing and is of course unaware of this social convention.
