The Once and Future King is a thought-provoking and yet exciting and action-packed story that students should enjoy reading. However, there are some caveats that you should be aware of.

White uses many archaic and/or specialized terms to refer to the medieval period he writes about. They may deal with medieval architecture, clothing, armor, jousting, falconry, and other specific subjects. Some of these words are found in the dictionary. Others may require a dictionary devoted to these archaisms. However, rather than interrupting student reading to look up so many of these words, you might want to remind students that not knowing what most of these words mean does not necessarily detract...
