Changing the Table of Contents

Kind of Activity:

Collaborative Writing

Objective:

Students will be able to create a new table of contents, keeping in mind the important elements of the stories.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.1, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.6

Structure:

To begin the activity, ask students to look at the table of contents of the short-story collection. Ask them to describe how it is structured. Ask: why do you think the translator opted to organize the stories into these three categories?
