The Martian Chronicles is a hybrid sort of book. It is science fiction as well as social commentary. It also has a unique structure of stitched together, related stories. Bradbury's The Illustrated Man has the same sort of composite structure in which each tattoo on the illustrated man tells a different but related story.
As a science fiction book about men on Mars, it might match well with Ben Bova's Mars and Return to Mars, as well as Robert Heinlein's The Rolling Stones and Red Planet.
