    Compare and Contrast Dimaline to Dimaline

    Objective:

    Students will compare and contrast the short story to the novel, expressing their ideas clearly in an essay.

    Structure:

    Read the short story “After 'While” by Cherie Dimaline as a class. When you're finished reading it, discuss their impressions of the story. What is it about? What do they think of it? Talk about major themes they see, the characters, the voice, and the mood. Do they notice similarities between the story and the novel?
