Why does the fox make the prince tame him when it's going to make him weep in the end? What would you do in his position?
The prince asks the same question, not understanding why the fox would insist on being tamed if he gets nothing in return. As the fox says, though, he does get something in return, for when he looks at the wheat, he will think of the prince and have those memories. Students may have heard this lesson in an old adage: It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Do they agree? If they were the fox, would they have wanted the prince to tame them as well?
