Book Two: Chapter I

Paul reflects on the similarities between his nursing home, Georgia Pines, and the Green Mile, both of which "kill" their residents in certain senses. The dull sadism of Georgia Pines worker Brad Dolan also reminds Paul of Percy. Paul explains that he is keeping himself occupied in Georgia Pines by writing his experiences of 1932 in the Green Mile, centered on the appearance of John Coffey.
