The Great Hunt Summary

The Great Hunt Summary

The second novel continues where the first one left off. Rand and the rest of the crew are still in Tal Dara after saving the world from the Dark One and the Forsaken. Rand sees a group of Aes Sedai coming to Tal Dara and panics, because he contemplated leaving, after Moiraine revealed to him that he is a male Aes Sedai, the one who can both save and destroy the world by wielding the One Power.

Moiraine and the chief of the Aes Sedai demand a meeting with him, and they reveal that the Horn of Valere has been stolen. Rand agrees to retrieve it because Mat’s dagger from Shadar Logoth is among the things stolen, and he needs to take it back to save Mat. The three chosen friends set off on the journey together with Loial and an army of soldiers led by Ingtar. Rand and Loial manage to return the stolen things from the Darkfriends, and they go to Cairhien. While in Cairhien, all hell breaks loose, unintentionally caused by Rand. The stolen things get stolen back by Padan Fain, who blackmails Rand for a meeting. Rand and the rest of his companions transport to Almoth Plain, where they are ambushed.

Nynaeve and Egwene started their training at the White Tower to become Aes Sedai. They receive news of Rand’s trouble and set off to the journey to Almoth Plain. The person who helps them get there betrays them, with Egwene and another girl getting captured, while Nynaeve and Elayne manage to escape.

Rand is faced with a decision whether to save Egwene or flee. He is cornered by the enemy army, and has no other choice but to blow on the Horn of Valere. Age of Legends fighters pledge their allegiance to Rand, acknowledging him as the Dragon Reborn. They help him defeat the enemy’s army, while Rand fights Ba’alzamon in the sky. Rand defeats the Dark One yet again, and the novel ends with him having to accept his fate as the Dragon Reborn.
