The Great Hunt

The Great Hunt Analysis

The Great Hunt is a fantasy novel written by American author Robert Jordan, and was first published by Tor Books on November 15, 1990. The book is the second in his Wheel of Time series and was preceded by The Eye of the World (1990).

This book follows Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, and his friends, Mat Cauthon, and Perrin Aybara, as they attempt to locate the Horn of Valere. However, the Darkforces attempt to derail them in their quest and steal the horn for themselves. Meanwhile, Elayne Trakand and her crew go in search of the White Tower but are halted in their journey by the evil Liandrin.

The series has been extremely well received, with SFX stating that it was “A fantasy phenomenon.” The book was re-released as to books in 2004, The Hunt Begins and New Threads in the Pattern. It was followed by The Dragon Reborn (1991).
