The Girl Who Played With Fire Quotes

Quotes

“Friendship is built on two things. Respect and trust. Both elements have to be there.”

Mikael Blomkvist

Everyone should value friendship, because it is not easy to find a real friend, trust and understanding should always complement each other in friendship. These two positive qualities exist between the main characters of the book. They complement each other and manage every task sympathetically: Lisbeth could not imagine that Mikael would be so important to her. Confidence and mutual understanding make them friends, however, one of the main characters turns their friendly relations into something more. Lisbeth is confident that respect and trust can complement their love. Mikael always talks about friendship, and he is not in love with Lisbeth- they are so different, but he treats her with sincere sympathy. He thinks that their friendly feelings are mutual. In short, he is in a foolish positio; confidence disappears between them, taking away friendship.

“Everybody deserves a chance.”

Armansky

Armansky knows about Lisbeth’s problems and her staying in a psychiatric hospital. However, he is sure that the girl needs the second chance for forgiveness, because she is very talented in the work despite the abnormal communication with people. Armansky is sure that Lisbeth will change her life and behavior. It is just important to give her the second chance. To forgive people is always necessary, but forgiveness does not mean a complete restoration of relations, and the second chance is a purely personal matter.

“There are no innocents. There are, however, different degrees of responsibility.”

Narrator

Nils Bjurman died because he did not want to play by Lisbeth’s rules. She gave him a safe chance, but he was trying to kill her. Nils’s irresponsibility ruined his life; a man is a man, and when he is able to be responsible for his deeds and behavior, the results of his activity, he will be ready for any tests and situations. If there is no responsibility, there is no man.
