Mikael Blomkvist
Mikael is a journalist and publisher of the magazine Millennium. He is a forty-year-old “beautiful man”, who changes his women like gloves, but he has a constant partner - Erika Berger. Mikael has a sense of security, which makes girls be enchanted by him. He also has a daughter from the first marriage. Mikael is a graduate of the faculty of journalism. The most part of his professional activity is devoted to exposing of the economical scammers. He is well versed in economy that why Mikael is often invited on television to discuss various issues about difficulties of economy. Mikael is a very capable and intelligent person, because he unravels many secrets and finds simple solutions for various problems.
Lisbeth Salander
Lisbeth is a pale, anorexic, thin girl with a short haircut and piercings in her nose and eyebrows. She has a tattoo in the form of a wasp on the neck, one tattooed chain, which is wrapped around her left arm and another one is on the ankle. Her distinctive feature is a tattoo on the right side of the back, from the shoulder to the buttock, which is depicting the dragon. This dragon has a symbolical meaning for the main heroine. Having a difficult childhood, Lisbeth is closed and asocial. She always has difficulties in friendship and communication with people. She especially hostiles to men, who are filthy with women. Lisbeth also is a hacker and this kind of activity helps her to find justice and achieve goals.
Alexander Zalachenko (Zala)
Zala is Lisbeth’s father and a former Soviet spy. As Lisbeth says, her father was a psychopath, a murderer and torturer of women. He beat and raped his wife, Agneta Sofia. Lisbeth did not endured it and at the age of twelve she applied five strokes with a knife in the shoulder and set his father on fire in the car, throwing there a package with petrol and a lighted match. However, the Security Service placed Lisbeth in a psychiatric clinic of St. Stephen, because Zala had a great value of for the Specialization Section. Actually, her father is not a kind man and he engages in sex trade in Sweden.
Ronald Niedermann a.k.a. The Giant
Ronald is a Lisbeth’s stepbrother and a secondary antagonist of this book. Like his father, he is also very cruel towards women and helps Zala to develop an outlet in the sex trade. Lisbeth was horrified, when she found out about her blood ties with Ronald, because she prefers to destroy such people.
Nils Erik Bjurman
Nils is a lawyer and Lisbeth’s guardian. In the first book, he raped the girl and caused her a pain. However, Lisbeth was doing everything, what Nils desired, for the sake of money. All the same, Lisbeth manages to outwit him and she makes a compromising information about Nils. In this novel, Nils does not change his behavior. He continues to mock Lisbeth, trying to destroy her. Nevertheless, Nils deserves his punishment for the negative deeds and he is killed.
Miriam (Mimmi) Wu
Mimmi is the best friend and lover of Lisbeth. They spend a lot of time together and they have an open relationship. This girl is very beautiful and young. Besides, she has a very good character and brings a lot of happiness for Lisbeth, because Mimmi is very kind.
Erika Berger
This woman is an editor of Millennium magazine. Despite the fact that Erika is married, she secretly meets with Mikael. It seems that she is a kind woman, but she is ready to destroy any girl who will get her lover. Thanks to Erika, Lisbeth is disappointed in Mikael and she breaks up with him after a short relationship.
