The Boy
The boy is the protagonist of the story. The boy is in the wild trying to locate his home. After staying in the wild for several days, the boy meets the mole, who agrees to help him locate his home. However, the boy is reluctant because he does not understand how a little animal like the mole can help.
The author depicts the boy as a compassionate individual who treats people around him with love and respect. Despite the mole beings small in size, he respects him. The horse and the fox join the boy and the mole in the search for his home. The four friends encourage each other to have faith in whatever they do.
The Mole
The mole is the smallest among the four friends. Despite having a small body, the mole assures his friends that he can help them whenever they need him. For instance, the mole helps the fox gain his freedom from a trapper in the forest. The fox is shocked that a small creature like the mole can help him gain freedom.
The Fox
The fox is depicted as an angry character who wants his freedom. When the boy and the mole first meet the fox, they find him trapped in the forest. Initially, the fox expresses an interest in eating the mole. However, that does not discourage the mole from setting him free. After the fox gains freedom, he appreciates the mole and becomes good friends.
The Horse
The horse is the last character to join the boy and his other friends. The horse plays a significant role in the search mission because he carries the boy when tired. The horse tells the boy not to give up because soon they will locate his home. In addition, the horse tells the other friends that he can fly. The boy confirms that the horse can fly when he sees wings growing on the horse's back.
