The heavier ball actually strikes the ground first if air resistance is not negligible. This idea is shown in Figure 4.15 and the discussion on page 66, where in the presence of air resistance, the heavier parachutist drops faster than the lighter one. Though the heavier one landed first, the very small difference was still more than enough to disprove Aristotle's theories of motion.
