Answer
The integrator cells of the olfactory bulb are the mitral cells
Work Step by Step
The axons of the olfactory sensory neurons form the olfactory nerve. These axons synapse with mitral cells at the site of the glomeruli in the olfactory bulb. Axons of mitral cells form the olfactory tract which travels to the piriform lobe of the olfactory cortex. One pathway travels to the frontal lobe and goes to the amygdala and hypothalamus in the limbic system.
The mitral cells refine, and amplify signals received from sensory neurons, and relay them to higher neural centers. Amacrine cells release the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid
(GABA) that inhibits the activity of the mitral cells so that only highly excitatory signals go through to higher neural centers.
