This is a case of heat stroke because he was still sweating. In heat stroke the person's heat loss mechanism becomes inactive and due to which they can not sweat and their body overheats. Whereas in heat exhaustion the heat loss mechanism is still active and the person loses lot of fluids due to perspiration.
