Chapter 6 - Systems of Equations and Inequalities - Concept Byte - Page 370: 1

Answer

The values that are the same for Y1 and Y2 are X=4.

Work Step by Step

Using the y= function on the graphing calculator and entering the two equations $ y= 3x-7 $ and $ y= -0.5+7 $, we can begin to look for the values that are the same. As per the question instructions, the tblset values should start at 0 and end at tbl = 1. Once we navigate to the table by pressing second then graph we can see the list of all the Y1 and Y2 values for the X inputs. Upon analyzing visually, we can observe that only X=4 has the same values for Y1 and Y2, which is Y1 and Y2 = 5. Attached is a screenshot of this table screen.
