Arms of Balarama

The narrator describes the arms of Balarama as, ' May the arms of Balarama protect thee, arms as fair as the young moon at its rising, given their full vigour by wine, full of beauty incarnate and as lovely as spring.' In the description the narrator has used two similes to describe the arms of Balarama. The simile,'... arms as fair as the young moon at its rising' directly liken the complexion of the arms to the color of the rising young moon. The second simile is, '... as lovely as spring..' The simile has likened the loveliness of the arms to the spring season.

Desperation of the villagers

The student of theology brought news to the hermitage of the desolation and desperation of the villagers upon hearing of the death of their queen and chief minister. The desperation is described as, ' With the departure of the king, the village became desolate like the sky when the moon and the stars have set.' The simile used has likened the sense of loss that the villagers felt when their king left them to mourn his wife with the empty sky.

Description of the Noble Lady of Avanti

A maid described the noble lady of Avanti as, '... her mind intent on distant thought, looking like a digit of the moon obscured by mist.' The simile has likened the thoughtfulness of the Lady Avanti to the moon that has been obscured by mist.

The Jester's description of his stomach upset

When the jester of King Udayana was at the palace where Padmavatti lives, a maid asked him whether he would like to eat. He described his stomach ailments through the use of a simile, 'Unfortunate that I am, like the rolling of cuckoo' s eyes. ' The simile had likened the misfortune that hi has because of his stomach upset to the rolling of a cuckoo' s eyes.

Blossoming of seoli clusters

Seoli clusters are flowers. Their blossoming is described as follows, 'Yes, princess they have, with blossoms like pendants, of pearls intersect with corals.' In the description of the blossoming of Seoli clusters, the maid has used the simile which likened the blossomed flowers to a pendant.
