Making your own justice

When Dresden is accused and is considered a suspect in the murder case, he realizes that the evidence points against him because of the involvement of magic. The Warden distrusts him and is suspicious, which leads Dresden to make his own justice and solve the case himself. In a similar way, Victor Sells is trying to make his own justice by using the drug to wipe out the narcotics trade that Marcone runs.

Drugs

Victor Sells is the main antagonist, and he is known to deal in the manufacture of the drug, "ThreeEye", which allows the user to temporarily obtain magical powers. Despite the fact that the side effects include driving one insane, this does not stop Victor from abusing the drug for his own needs. He becomes addicted on the power that Wizard Sight brings him and uses it to try to kill Dresden.

Magic

Magic is at the forefront of this story, as the protagonist is a skilled magician. Dresden is known for investigating cases with the use of his magical powers to aid him, however, this time he finds himself at the major suspects list after a couple is discovered dead by magic, having had their hearts pulled out of their bodies. It is clear that whilst Dresden tries to use his magic for good, this is not always the case for other wielders.
