    Epilogue

    Kind of Activity:

    Collaborative Writing

    Objective:

    Students will write an epilogue to Station Eleven to demonstrate their understanding of the themes and tone of the novel.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.9-10.5, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.9-10.6

    Structure:

    Station Eleven ends on a hopeful note of possibility. Have students explore that possibility by writing an extension or epilogue for the novel. They need not be constrained by the timeframe—just as Mandel jumps from the outbreak to twenty years later, students have a variety of choices of what to write: they could focus on the Symphony reaching the brightly lit town, on years later, or even on Jeevan’s...
