Someone Metaphors and Similes

‘Filthy place’

Pegeen asserts, “I‘ll be happy…to stop going to that filthy place.” The reference to a filthy pace is figurative of Lower Manhattan and it specifies that Pegeen does not value working there. Lower Manhattan disgusts her and were it not for her job then she would not have appeared there. Filthiness is a signal of the compromised worth that she accredits to Lower Manhattan.

Amadan

Pegeen refers to herself to ‘ Amadan’ which is connotative of a’ fool’. She concludes with Amadan after declaring that, “I’ll get a boyfriend…I’ll get myself married.” Referring herself to ‘ Amadan’ surmises that she does not believe in the assertions which she makes concerning her intents to have a boyfriend and to be wedded.

‘Prince Charming’

Pegeen narrates, “Today a very handsome man gave me his hand. He asked if I was all right. A real Prince Charming.” The figurative ‘Prince Charming’ renders the man an utter gentleman who would appeal to a girl in need of a partner, such as Pegeen.
